The Portman Estate recognises the importance of managing its operations in a manner which provides a positive contribution towards a Sustainable Environment.
This includes but is not limited to:
- Reducing the carbon output of our property and operations.
- Minimising the impact our activities have on the environment.
- Promoting the use of energy efficient and environmentally beneficial technologies.
- Promoting the use of local resources wherever possible.
- Develop a management system that ensures sustainable issues are considered in all aspects of our operation.
Our commitment will be demonstrated by achieving the following targets:
- Ensuring our operation achieves carbon neutral status and reducing the requirement for offsetting year-on-year.
- Promoting sustainable practice through our supply chain by giving preference to consultants, contractors and other suppliers who match our ambitions.
- Adopting effective waste management systems and encouraging our suppliers to do the same.
- Minimising energy and water consumption wherever and whenever possible.
- Using our position to promote sustainable activities to our residential and commercial occupiers.
- Measuring and reviewing all of the above on a regular basis to maintain and improve our performance.
